Welcome
Healing from Within. Radiance on the Outside.
Welcome to Inner Beauty Acu Clinic, the Best Preventive Care Center in Tustin, California. I’m Dr. Sumi Won, DACM, L.Ac., and I’m here to help you reconnect with your body’s incredible ability to heal, rejuvenate, and thrive.
My passion for healing is deeply rooted in my Korean heritage. My great-grandfather was a respected acupuncturist in South Korea, and I feel honored to carry on his legacy by offering a holistic, modern approach to beauty and wellness.
At Inner Beauty Acu Clinic, I specialize in cosmetic acupuncture and RF microneedling—natural, non-invasive treatments designed to awaken your skin’s own collagen production, lift and tone the face, reduce acne scars, and restore youthful radiance. As a certified provider trained through the FACE program at Pacific College of Health Science, I use the Rejuna Fresh Icy Gold RF Microneedling system to deliver safe and effective results, blending ancient techniques with cutting-edge technology.
But my care goes beyond the skin. I also work with patients to relieve chronic pain, low back issues, anxiety, digestive imbalances, and more. Acupuncture doesn’t force your body to perform in a new way—it gently enhances your body’s natural control systems, supporting homeostasis and allowing healing to happen from within.
Acupuncture has been historically and clinically proven to help improve daily life by increasing energy, promoting restful sleep, calming the nervous system, improving mental clarity, and managing pain. At Inner Beauty Acu Clinic, we use acupuncture and herbal medicine as part of a whole-body, preventive approach to boost your immunity, mood, energy, and overall beauty—inside and out.
Whether you’re here to rejuvenate your skin or to feel more balanced in your body, I’m here to support you on your healing journey with compassion, skill, and a deeply personal connection to the art of acupuncture.

About Us
Inner Beauty Acu Clinic
Our mission is to help your own body heal itself using the power of acupuncture
Did you know that your body is designed to heal itself?
The human body is equipped with homeostasis—its own natural ability to self-regulate and maintain balance. At Inner Beauty Acu Clinic, our mission is to enhance that natural healing ability, not override it. Acupuncture doesn’t force the body to perform differently—it simply supports and strengthens the body’s internal control systems so that healing can happen naturally.
Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic system of healing that dates back to 200 B.C. While China, Korea, Japan, India, and Vietnam have all developed their own distinct traditions of medicine, the underlying principle is the same: supporting the body’s natural balance to prevent and treat illness. Acupuncture has been historically and clinically proven to be highly effective.
One of acupuncture’s most powerful effects is its ability to regulate the autonomic nervous system—shifting the body out of “fight-or-flight” mode and into a “rest-and-digest” state. By calming the sympathetic nervous system and activating the parasympathetic response, acupuncture helps reduce stress, anxiety, inflammation, and pain while promoting deep relaxation, improved digestion, better sleep, and mental clarity.
Acupuncture not only treats disease—it also prevents it. It works to balance hormones, improve energy throughout the day, support digestive and sleep health, and strengthen the immune system. By correcting imbalances in the body (Yin and Yang) and restoring vital energy, acupuncture becomes a powerful form of preventive medicine—helping you stay well, recover faster, and live with more vitality.
As one of the safest forms of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), acupuncture carries minimal risk and rarely causes side effects—especially when compared to long-term medication use. It’s a convenient, effective, and natural approach to feeling better in body, mind, and spirit.
At Inner Beauty Acu Clinic, we use a holistic medicine approach through acupuncture and herbal medicine. We’re here to help you feel better about yourself and live your life to the fullest—by boosting your immunity, energy, mood, beauty, and pain management.
Let your body heal itself.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine. The origins of acupuncture can be traced back 2000 years and it is one of the oldest and the most long standing health care systems in the world. Acupuncture is the practice of penetrating the skin with thin, solid, and metallic needles. The human body has more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected by pathways or meridians. These pathways create an energy flow (Qi, pronounced “chee”) through the body that is responsible for overall health. Disruption of the energy flow can cause disease. By applying acupuncture to certain points, it is thought to improve the flow of Qi, thereby improving health.
Many studies have shown that acupuncture is effective for a variety of conditions.Acupuncture takes a holistic approach to understanding normal function and disease processes and focuses as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment. Acupuncture also has been effectively used in various autonomic nerve-related disorders through modulating the imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic activities, such as cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, anxiety and nervousness, circadian rhythm disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and subfertility.
K-Acupuncture (Korean Acupuncture) is often called “four-needle” technique (or Sa-am technique). Sa-am acupuncture is one of the traditional acupuncture methods in Korea. This method was founded by a Buddhist monk called Sa-am 400 years ago. The four needles are used and split two and two. White two needles tonify the good energy of the channel; two other needles sedate the bad energy of the channel to balance our body.
Sam’s four-needle acupuncture technique is one of the therapeutic modalities representing traditional Korean medicine. Sa-am acupuncture controls the meridians by placing acupuncture points in a place called Five Shu points. To explain the principle of Sa-am acupuncture in a simpler way, a lot of bad energy is concentrated in the painful area. According to Donguibogam, Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine written by Heo Jun in the 17th century in Korea, if it flows well, it doesn’t hurt, and if it doesn’t flow, it hurts. Although the causes of pain are all different, it will not hurt in the end if you make it flow.
First of all, the flow of qi and blood in the painful area should pass well. Painful areas often have damage and blood stagnation. Therefore, there may be swelling, bruising, and a dull color change in the case of chronic condition. Sa-am acupuncture treats painful areas using the principle of regulating the flow of meridians based on the principle of the five elements. Sa-am acupuncture method called “distal treatment,” does not put acupuncture on the sore spot, but rather stimulates the lesion and the distant point to treat the disease.
The biggest characteristic of Sa-am acupuncture is that acupuncture is placed on the opposite side of the painful area. The effect of acupuncture is quite fast. It is enough to recognize the improvement in the middle of treatment.
Sa-am acupuncture is a less burdensome acupuncture method for patients. Sa-am needles do not go deep into the skin, so they are relatively less irritating. This method has the effect of continuously circulating acupuncture points when acupuncture is applied once. Therefore, even if it is given to the patient every day, there is no strain on the body.
Sa-am acupuncture not only treats diseases, but also prevents diseases. In the past, this acupuncture was called Divine Acupuncture because it was excellent in improving patient’s body constitution. It shows that Sa-am acupuncture treatment combined with conventional body acupuncture showed better results than those of body acupuncture alone. Sa-am acupuncture is an acupuncture that can cure incurable disease that is difficult to treat by correcting the body’s imbalances in the body’s organs.
Our health care system in the US is focusing primarily on illness rather than on wellness (Shi & Singh, 2022). Western medicine has a number of advantages and is represented by drugs and surgery. The fact that antibiotics have freed mankind from numerous fatal bacterial diseases and the fact that many lives can be saved from death through surgical treatment helped solidity the status of the modern western medicine. Western medicine tries to find the cause of a disease only in factors such as viruses, bacteria, mutations in cells, and heredity rather than bad habits in daily life. As a result, if it is difficult to find the cause or if it is complex, they only cling to the symptoms and aggravate the harm of symptomatic therapy. Although it is important to divide medicine by differentiation, it is necessary to take an approach that looks at the human body as a whole. This focus on illness rather than on wellness should be changed. Somewhat it is changing from illness to wellness. In order to enjoy a healthy life, each individual must take responsibility for maintaining their own health.Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes not only the treatment of diseases but also the prevention of diseases. In order for traditional Chinese medicine to contribute to national health through a more systematic medical system, it is very important to be recognized as a preventive medicine. Preserving one’s health is defined as the act of trying to improve health so as not to get sick by moderation of life. In other words, it refers to the prevention of diseases by properly managing the right lifestyle so as not to get sick, or self-healing if there are middle symptoms. Many people in the US belong to the risk group for metabolic diseases such as high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, obesity and diabetes, and metabolic disease can be called lifestyle-related disease. The goal is to prove the body to a health state. In curing disease, the center is the patient, and the therapist is always a helper. Healing takes precedence over treatment. The patient’s self-healing posture by improving lifestyle becomes the basis of treatment.
It is our responsibility to help you maintain your own health before getting sick as a preventive care. Also, acupuncture care is clinically proven to help with short term and long term benefits for low back pain, knew osteoarthritis, chronic neck pack, and headache and the integration of acupuncture into a primary care setting has been proven to be cost-effective to treat them (Mao &Kapur, 2010).
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years. It is recognized as effective by the World Health Organization with established guidelines for practice. In the United States, acupuncturists are licensed by their state’s department of health. Checking for licenses is a good place to start looking for reliable and properly trained practitioners.
After your acupuncture treatment, in general, people tend to feel relaxed after an acupuncture treatment. And the days following might even mean better sleep, digestion, and an overall sense of well-being. But some patients report having a deeper, more intense effect in the days following a treatment. You may feel tired for up to 3 days depending on your body. During this time, your body is cleansing and eliminating the toxins and poisonous waste that builds up in the blood stream. Fatigue is part of the normal healing process, and can be a positive sign that acupuncture is working.
After acupuncture and cupping, you should not take a cold shower or go swimming for 12-24 hours. This allows the treatment to remain in the body undisturbed. Also, heavy exercise, caffeine, alcohol, and junk food should be avoided.
According to Chinese medicine, chemotherapy can be stressful for all organs, especially the liver, kidney, and spleen. To balance that and give more strength to the body, acupuncture can nourish those organs and help the body gain more energy. Acupuncture can really help people with cancer by improving side effects from chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery and by improving pain, fatigue, insomnia, low energy and nausea.
You will notice that you will have more energy and your mood will improve.
which medical doctors and other healthcare professionals (such as nurses, pharmacists, and therapists) treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery. Also called allopathic medicine, biomedicine, mainstream medicine, orthodox medicine, and Western medicine.
How Long Does Each Session Last? Acupuncture sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of treatment you are receiving.
It is mainly used only in oriental medicine. It is said to be the most important treatment method along with acupuncture. If acupuncture is a treatment that focuses on the control and balance of energy, moxibustion maximized the effect of acupuncture and plays a stronger role as a reinforcing method to increase the body’s Yang energy.
Herbal medicine is a medicine that helps the body’s energy to increase immunity and overcome disease.
We use the infrared light lamp when getting acupuncture. The reason for using infrared light lamps is that they usually have a heat treatment effect. It increases blood flow, expands blood vessels, speeds up blood circulation in the area, and activates tissue metabolism that helps healing. When the blood circulation is promoted, waste products and tissue fragments from the area are discharges and inflammation is quickly healed. It also stretches hard tissues softly and increases the elasticity of the joints to make the affected area flexible. Heat itself has a pain–reducing effect; applying heat to a sore area temporarily relieves pain. As the muscles relax and the pain subsides, tension is released and the mind is relaxed.
Our clinic is a clinic that practices gratitude because practicing gratitude makes you healthy and many scientific studies support it. Everyone has probably heard in their life the saying to live with gratitude. Gratitude is emphasized in all religions. Most religious traditions such as Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam all encourage practicing gratitude as an important moral value. Living with gratitude and its benefits are universal laws that apply to anyone, even if they do not believe in religion. In recent years it is good to see many research results showing scientifically proven benefits of being grateful beyond simple moral values.
It is easy to be grateful when there are many things to be grateful for, but it is not always easy to express gratitude if you are going through difficult times or a boring daily life. Numerous studies have shown that maintaining a grateful heart and attitude improves overall well-being. Even a simple change in attitude can change the way you see the world and improve your health, emotional and physical health. Gratitude does not just help you remove your negative emotions. The habit of being grateful can reduce the secretion of stress hormones, such as cortisol, from the adrenal glands in response to mental and physical stress by 25%. Looking at life through a more grateful lens stimulates the calming part of the parasympathetic nervous system. This may increase the release of oxytocin, a mood-enhancing hormone that resists stress hormones.
Maintaining a grateful heart, along with making healthier choices, has been shown to have a positive effect on blood pressure, improving cardiovascular health. Gratitude also helps people have better quality sleep which is important for immune function.
Dr. Mill’s article on the Role of Gratitude in Spiritual Well-being in Asymptomatic Heart Failure shows how closely related our heart health and gratitude are. In his correlational analysis, patients practicing gratitude showed lower levels of inflammatory biomarkers, better sleep, less fatigue, less depressed mood, and better self-efficacy to maintain cardiac function. (Mills et al., 2015) There studies, which can scientifically provide clinical results, are important because they make the health benefits of gratitude more believable for many.
When a cup is half full, there are those who complain that it is half full and those who are grateful that it is half full. There is a big difference between a positive view and a negative view. That difference in perspective can have a huge impact on our health and wealth.
Practicing gratitude can improve mental health, physical health, stronger social bonds, and resilience. In order to develop a habit of being grateful, gratitude journaling or setting aside times each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for can be great ways to start.
